Mark Kelly, Vice President

Founder of Parallax Technologies Corporation, now retired in Grand Haven, MI. Served in the US Army with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam as an infantryman. His respect for all service men and women serving their country goes unchallenged. As a Veteran with disabilities, he helps Veterans thru the VA process of acquiring disability benefits and medical attention. He also continues working in local and international community service as a member of Rotary International plus locally helping children with cognitive disabilities through foundations he has created.

Cara Galbavi, Secretary

Cara L. Galbavi is licensed Michigan attorney, and owner of Cara Galbavi Law, a tailored law firm focused in the areas of estate planning, probate, trust administration, business, succession planning, nonprofits, and real estate. Originally from Northeast Ohio, Cara obtained her B.A. from Youngstown State University, and later graduated with her J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law in Indiana in 2002. In 2010, she opened her own firm in West Michigan to concentrate her practice on the personal and business planning needs of her clients.

Cara is an active Rotarian, an Ambassador with the Chamber of Commerce of Grand Haven, Spring Lake, and Ferrysburg, a board member of Winterfest, Inc., Folds of Honor, Inc., and Soup for All. Cara is also a member of the Lake Michigan Estate Planning Council, Muskegon and Ottawa County Bar Associations, as well as multiple sections of the Michigan State Bar. In her spare time, Cara is an avid hiker and runner. She loves traveling, gardening, and designing memorial jewelry for those who have suffered prenatal and perinatal loss.

Chris Streng, Treasurer

Born and raised in Grand Haven, Chris is a proud veteran having graduated from the United States Naval Academy and who served overseas in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. After 11 years of Naval service, Chris and his wife Kristi boomeranged back to Grand Haven. Since returning Chris has worked for JSJ Corporation businesses, serving in several Operations Management roles. Chris serves the community as a Panel Member and Leader for the United Way’s Community Investment Process, member of Grand Haven Rotary, a Grand Haven Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, Quartermaster for the Grand Haven Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2326, Adjutant for the Grand Haven Memorial Day Association, Treasure for the Folds of Honor – Michigan Chapter, and as a youth soccer coach for Tri Cities Youth Soccer Organization. Chris and his wife Kristi are the proud parents of 7 children.

John Somers, President

John was born and raised in West Michigan. After graduating from East Grand Rapids High School, John attended Michigan State University and graduated with a B.A. in Supply Chain Management with Honor. Next and while living in Chicago, IL, John worked for the largest international freight forwarder and contract logistics provider in the world, while also attending graduate business school at Loyola University, where he obtained his MBA with concentrations in International Business and in Entrepreneurship.

John has held several positions within Almond Products, Inc. with headquarters in Spring Lake, MI., including General Manager of their Mexico facility which he started-up from a green field. He is currently their Vice President of Sales, and President of International Business.

John enjoys spending time on the water with friends and family, kiteboarding, snowmobiling, and other outdoor activities. John is a member of the Sons of the American Legion, and is excited to be part of and contribute to the Folds of Honor’s mission.

Scott Wagasky, Director

Scott was fortunate to be part of the original Patriot Golf Day /Folds of Honor Golf Outing held at Grand Haven Golf Club in 2007.
He has participated in the annual event ever since and has been moved by the stories and heroism of the families of the scholarship recipients.

As the Vice President of the Huntington Private Bank along the Lakeshore of West Michigan, Scott is committed to giving back to his colleagues, clients and community. Scott is a graduate of MSU (BA) and GVSU (MBA). Scott, wife Lisa and children Hillary, Griffin and Carley reside in Grand Haven.
